Would you like to make your student’s learning visible?
Documentation is a key part of an early childhood classroom. Documentation is the recording of children’s thinking for pedagogical research! It allows both the educators and the students to reflect upon their learning.
There are many ways you can document children’s learning:
- Writing or typing the students’ thoughts
- Children’s drawings
It’s not how you collect the information but what you do with it afterwards. Some documentation you may only revisit once but others you may use again and again.
You can use documentation to inform your future teaching and to reflect with parents and students. Each week we email our families news and events from our classroom.
We use the Early Years Learning Framework outcomes to help guide our teaching and documentation. Read more about documentation on the Reggio Emilia Australia Information Exchange.
