These beautiful garlands are guaranteed to bring some aromatic Christmas cheer to your home! Inspired by the scents of Christmas, this simple activity involves threading pinecones, cinnamon sticks, rosemary sprigs, gum nuts, star anise, driftwood twigs and dried orange slices onto jute string.
In preparation, the orange slices were placed on oven racks at low heat for two hours to dehydrate. Other materials can easily be gathered on a nature walk or from the pantry.
Our young ones used a blunt plastic needle for threading and practiced their fine motor skills by tying knots around larger items. Ribbons or bells could be added for extra festive effect.
